This category recognises individuals, who have dedicated themselves to maritime SAR and are recognised by their peers as providing an outstanding contribution, and have demonstrated excellence that deserves rewarding.

A nominee is eligible for the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ when:

The individual has made an outstanding contribution and demonstrated excellence to maritime SAR in the past, for a minimum of 10 years and is still involved in maritime SAR during the nomination period of 1 July 2017 until 30 June 2018.

An example of demonstrating Reach & Impact for a nomination is as follows:

If your nomination was about an individual, who creates a project that strengthens the training of lifeboat crew in Europe, the reach could be Europe wide and the impact could be improved maritime SAR skills throughout the participating organisations.

The Vladimir Maksimov Lifetime Achievement Award

The Vladimir Maksimov Lifetime Achievement Award commemorates the exceptional contribution made by Inmarsat employee, Vladimir Maksimov to the safety of life at sea.

An Engineering Graduate in Radio Communications and Navigation from Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy (AMSMA), and a Chief Radio Officer with Baltic Shipping Company for nine years, Mr Maksimov joined Inmarsat in 1990.

He became Manager of Maritime Safety Operations in 2000. As Director SOLAS Services, he was a champion of Inmarsat’s Maritime Safety Services and at the heart of both the technical innovation and regulations enhancing safety, until his untimely death.

Vladimir was committed to seafarers getting the help they needed as fast as possible in times of trouble, and his contribution in developing the network supporting Global Maritime Distress Safety System is incalculable.
